Enrique Peña Nieto is a Mexican politician. A member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, he served as President of Mexico, from 1 December, 2012 to 1 December, 2018. He was previously Secretary of Administration of the State of Mexico, from 11 May, 2000 to 4 December, 2002, and the 41st Governor of the State of Mexico, from 16 September, 2005 to 16 September, 2011, among other duties. He is also known as EPN.

President Peña Nieto is the son of Gilberto Enrique Peña del Mazo and María del Socorro Ofelia Nieto Sánchez. President Peña Nieto is married to Angélica Rivera Hurtado. He has five children, including three with his former wife, Mónica Pretelini Sáenz. He is a relative of politicians Arturo Montiel and Alfredo del Mazo González.

President Peña Nieto’s paternal grandfather was Francisco Javier Arturo Peña Arcos (the son of Eleuterio Severiano Peña López and Juana Arcos Colín). Francisco was born in Acambay, Acambay de Ruíz Castañeda, Estado de México, Mexico. Severiano was the son of Sotero Peña García and María Rosalía Victoriana López Mejía. Juana was the daughter of Eufemio Arcos Valdés and Juana Rafaela Valvina Colín González.

President Peña Nieto’s paternal grandmother was María de los Dolores del Mazo Vélez (the daughter of Pedro del Mazo Villasante and Josefa Vélez Díaz). Pedro was the son of Galo del Mazo y Conde and María de las Mercedes Villasante y Pliego. Galo was Spanish and traveled to Mexico; he was born in La Encina, Santa María de Cayón, Cantabria, Spain, to José del Mazo Gutiérrez and Gerónima Conde Anuarve. President Peña Nieto’s great-grandmother Josefa was the daughter of Antonio Vélez Flores and María Marta Julita Margarita Díaz Ortega.

President Peña Nieto’s maternal grandfather was Constantino Enrique Nieto Montiel (the son of Marcelino Ruperto Nieto Giménez and Epigmenia Luz Lina/Epigmenia Lina de La Luz Montiel Sánchez). Marcelino was the son of Remigio Nieto Garduño and Marta Jiménez Monroy. Epigmenia was the daughter of León Cleofás Antonio Montiel Bermúdez and María Evarista Simona Sánchez García.

President Peña Nieto’s maternal grandmother was Ofelia Sánchez Colín (the daughter of Juan Silvano Sánchez Lobera and María de los Remedios Antonia Colín Pérez). Silvano was the son of José Vidal Anastacio Sánchez Guadarrama and María Mauricia Matiana Lovera Valdez. President Peña Nieto’s great-grandmotherMaría de los Remedios was the daughter of José María Colín Herrera and María Feliciana Úrsula de Jesús Pérez Cárdenas.

    He might also have French ancestry.Two of his ancestors had the surname colin I looked that up on message boards ancestry.com that surname is quite common in altacomulco where he was born.One of the posts said its quite common in Toluca,altacomulco and mexico city and puebla which is where the French took over (battle of Puebla)for all you history buffs the link is right here: http://boards.ancestry.com/thread.aspx?mv=flat&m=10&p=surnames.colin
