Bong Joon-ho is a South Korean film director, screenwriter, and producer. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for Parasite (2019). Parasite is also the first film to win both the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film and the Academy Award for Best Picture. He is also known for his films The Host (2006), Snowpiercer, and Okja.
His father, Bong Sang-gyun, is a graphic designer.
Bong’s maternal grandfather was Park Taewon. He was an author, known for his novel A Day in the Life of Novelist Gubo.
