Isaac Asimov was an American writer and professor of biochemistry. He is known for his science fiction works.
Isaac was the son of Anna-Rachel (Berman) and Judah Asimov, from Petrovichi, Smolensk Oblast. His family moved to the U.S. in 1923, and he was raised in Brooklyn, New York.
He was married to science fiction writer, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst Janet Asimov, until his death. He had two children with his former wife, Gertrude Blugerman.
Isaac’s paternal grandfather was named Aaron Menachem Asimov (the son of Mendel Asimov). Aaron was born in Petrovichi, Smolensk Oblast. Mendel was the son of Abraham Ber Asimov and Shepsheleva Sosya.
