Michael Eklund is a Canadian actor and producer. His roles include the films Walk All Over Me, Errors of the Human Body, The Call (2013), Eadweard, and the Detective Knight franchise, and the shows Arrow, Bates Motel, Wynonna Earp, and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.

Michael is sometimes said to have Norwegian and Cree First Nations ancestry. It is not clear if this is accurate.

Michael’s paternal grandfather was Earl E. Eklund (the son of Harold Eugene Eklund and Clara M. Bruesewitz/Brusewitz). Earl was born in Saskatchewan, to parents from the U.S. Harold was the son of Swedish parents, John Eklund and Sophie/Sophia C. Clara was the daughter of German parents, Ferdinand Bruesewitz/Brusevitz and Ulrike Reata.

Michael’s paternal grandmother was Gertrude Louise Penny (the daughter of Walter Henry Penny and Mabel May Busby). Walter was the son of English parents, Henry L. Penny and Matilda. Mabel was the daughter of Robert James Busby and Jane/Jennie, and had Northern Irish and Scottish ancestry.

Michael’s maternal grandfather was Lloyd Ellis Hughes (the son of John J. Hughes and Maude Wood). Lloyd was born in Alberta. John was born in Wales. Maude was born in Ontario, to English parents, James Wood and Jessie Rancliff/Ratcliff.
