Jacqueline is the daughter of Kimberly (Marteau) and John Bonnell Emerson. Jacqueline’s father is an American lawyer and former U.S. Ambassador to Germany, having served from 2013 to 2017.

Jacqueline’s paternal grandfather was James G. “Jim” Emerson.

Jacqueline’s paternal grandmother was Jessie Margaret Bonnell (the daughter of John Sutherland Bonnell and Bessie Louise Carruthers). John was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, the son of Abraham Bonnell and Catherine Cameron. Bessie was also born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, the daughter of George Muttart Carruthers and Phoebe Ann Callback.
