Sam Hunt is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and college football player.

Sam is the son of Joan (Carr), a teacher, and Allen Garlington Hunt, an insurance agent. Sam’s family has lived in the United States, and more specifically the American South, for many generations. Sam is married to Hannah Lee Fowler, with whom he has a daughter.

Sam’s paternal grandfather was Van Garlington Hunt (the son of Posey Weyman Hunt and Ellen H. Lowry).

Sam’s paternal grandmother was Laura Elizabeth Parker (the daughter of Lee Parker and Julia Elizabeth Partee). Julia was the daughter of Thomas Irvin Partee and Laura Ann Callen.

Sam’s maternal grandfather was Ewell Sanford Carr, Jr. (the son of Ewell Sanford Carr and Annie/Anney/Anni Mae Terry). Sam’s grandfather Ewell was born in Georgia. Sam’s great-grandfather Ewell was the son of Alexander Salkirk “Alex” Carr and Grace Lambert/Trumler. Annie was the daughter of John Pinkney Terry and Minnie Lee Jones.

Sam’s maternal grandmother was Shirley D. Cordle (the daughter of Ralph Franklin Cordle and Inez Buffington). Shirley was born in Georgia.
