Lemmy was an English musician, singer, and songwriter. He was the founder, lead singer, bassist, and primary songwriter of rock band Motörhead. He was also credited as Lemmy Kilmister and Ian Fraser Willis.

He was the son of Jessie Milda and Sydney Davy Albert Kilmister, who was a Royal Air Force chaplain and concert pianist. When Lemmy was ten, his mother married rugby player George Willis. They moved to a farm in Benllech, Wales.

Lemmy had two children.

Lemmy’s paternal grandfather was Bertie Kilmister (also known as Albert Kilmister, the son of Joseph Kilmister and Mary Ann Francis). Bertie was born in Lancashire, England.
