His mother was Kathleen Megan “Kathy” Ceaton. He had believed that his biological father was American actor Robert Vaughn, before a paternity investigation identified his biological father as George Albert Harley de Vere Drummond. He now uses the name Matthew Allard de Vere Drummond.

Matthew is married to German model Claudia Schiffer, with whom he has three children.

Matthew’s paternal grandfather was George Henry de Vere Drummond (the son of George James Drummond and Elizabeth Cecile Sophia Norman). Matthew’s great-grandfather George was the son of George Drummond and Marianne Portman. Elizabeth was the daughter of The Rev. Frederick John Norman and Lady Adeliza Elizabeth Gertrude Manners. Lady is a title.

Matthew’s paternal grandmother was Honora Myrtle Gladys Spiller (the daughter of Duncan Wilfred Lambert Spiller and Gladys Allfrey). Duncan was the son of Duncan Chisholm Oliver Spiller and Matilda Lucy Sterling. Matthew’s great-grandmother Gladys was the daughter of Walter Mortimer Allfrey and Louisa Allfrey. Matthew’s maternal grandfather was James L. A. Ceaton (the son of Samuel P. Ceaton and Maria E. Taylor). James was born in Mile End Old Town, London, England.
