Jonny is the son of Philippa and Phil Wilkinson. His mother was born in Copperbelt Province, Zambia. His brother is rugby union player Mark Wilkinson. Jonny is married to Shelley Jenkins. Shelley is a scaffolding company heiress. He has launched Fineside, an online men’s fashion label.

Jonny’s paternal grandfather was named Philip “Pip” Wilkinson. He played football for the Norwich team.

Jonny’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Papworth.
