DNA tests would find the higher perecentage of her genetic make up as African, but whether you want to admit it or not, there is caucasian in her ancestry, as with many Africans today. There is nothing wrong with being proud to be black, i will first and foremost say people like Tyra Banks and Michael Eric Dyson are black, but somewhere along the line there is caucasian in their blood.

By the way, EVERY SINGLE PERSON ON THE PLANET has the ability to produce children with any eye color. You can look it up yourself. If two people have brown eyes, even if all of the grandparents have brown eyes, the chances of the child having brown eyes is about 75-97%. There is also a probability of the child having blue, green, or hazel eyes. Gosh, why in this day and age when information is so readily available, are people still so ignorant and unwilling to learn. A black person doesn’t have to be mixed to have light eyes. I can understand if a person doesn’t understand genetics, but so many people talk out their asses.

To have blue eyes you have to have the gene from both parents. Blue eyes are not naturally occurring in African and Asian populations. I always thought she probably had partial white ancestry going way back (probably on both sides of her family) that she may not really know about. Most Americans, especially African Americans, have SOME admixture they don’t feel the need to acknowledge. She is more than likely mostly black and considers herself black, so who cares? A black woman she is!

Say what you want sir but I’ll listen to what Tyra Banks says she is. On a episode of Tyra – her show – she professed to her studio audience how proud she was to be a black woman. She said it with a bit of aggression too – look it up, I am sure you can find a recap of that episode on Youtube. Being Italian myself I didnt understand what the need was for the disclaimer. I mean c’mon, you can obviously tell she’s black. However after stumbling upon this poor excuse of a site I discovered she probably did that because of people like you. @PleaseAlready I don’t know where your aggression with what Liam said is coming from? Tyra is indeed proud to be black but she does have obvious ancestry from non-Africans. Anyway it all comes down to how the person self identifies no matter what someone else says. I’m sure most African Americans know they have other ancestries. If you see African people you can see the difference. I’m in Australia and we have quite a few first generation Africans here and their skin is black and they have no non-African ancestry. Most African-Americans are obviously mixed. I think the history of how black people were/are treated in the US is to blame for African Americans not wanting to claim their white ancestry and the one drop rule of the past. Liam I’m presuming has an Irish background like me and in the past the Irish were treated like shit by the British. I’m sure there are quite a few Irish with English blood as well and Irish didn’t like to acknowledge that. The vast majority of Irish have moved on and acknowledge this was in the past and times have changed. If people read some history books a lot of people were treated badly. The Irish were also sent as slaves to the West Indies so they have some of that in common with African Americans. It not just black and white (pardon the pun).
