The Kid Laroi is an Australian singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer, also billed as The Kid LAROI. He was raised partly in rural Australia, including Broken Hill.

His mother, Sloane Howard, is a talent manager, record label founder, and music executive, and his father, Nick Howard, is a music producer and sound engineer.

He is Kamilaroi, or Gamilaraay, from which he uses his artist name Laroi.

The Kid Laroi’s great-great grandfather was an Aboriginal or mixed Aboriginal child taken from his family and raised in a white household, part of the Stolen Generation. He was told he was Spanish because of his darker complexion.

The Kid Laroi’s maternal grandfather is named Jeffrey Dunn.

The Kid Laroi’s maternal grandmother is named Mary.
