Ted Field is an American media mogul, record executive, entrepreneur, and film producer. He is an heir to the Field family fortune. He co-founded Interscope Records, for music, with Jimmy Iovine, and founded Interscope Communications, for films.

Ted is the son of Marshall Field IV and Kay Fanning (born Katherine Woodruff). His father owned the Chicago Sun-Times, from 1956 to 1965. His mother was editor and publisher of the Anchorage Daily News, and later editor of the Christian Science Monitor.

His great-great-grandfather, Marshall Field, was a businessperson who founded the Marshall Field and Company chain of department stores.

His great-uncle, by marriage, was Sir Archibald Charles Edmonstone, 6th Baronet.

Ted’s paternal grandfather was Marshall Field III (the son of Marshall Field, Jr. and Albertine Huck). Ted’s grandfather Marshall was born in Illinois, and was a philanthropist, investment banker, publisher, and racehorse owner and breeder. Ted’s great-grandfather Marshall was the son of Marshall Field and Nannie Douglas/Douglass Scott. Albertine was the daughter of Louis Charles Huck, who was born in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Ted’s paternal grandmother was Evelyn Isabella Marshall (the daughter of Charles Henry Marshall and Josephine Mozier Banks). Evelyn was born in Surrey, England. Charles was the son of Charles Henry Marshall and Fidelia Wellman. Josephine was the daughter of James Lenox Banks and Isabella/Isabell Mozier.

Ted’s maternal grandfather was Frederick William Woodruff II (the son of Frederick William Woodruff and Ellen Marie “Nellie” Davis). Ted’s grandfather Frederick was born in Illinois. Ted’s great-grandfather Frederick was the son of George Woodruff and Dorothy Smith. Ellen was the daughter of Isaac Fletcher Davis and Catherine Watts.

Ted’s maternal grandmother was Katherine Susan Bower Miller (the daughter of Charles Bower Miller and Katherine Sophia Katterjohn). Ted’s grandmother Katherine was born in Kentucky. Ted’s great-grandmother Katherine was the daughter of Herman Rudolph Katterjohn and Mary Elizabeth Hoelscher.
