He was born in Lund, Sweden, the son of Hulda Bryndís Sverrisdóttir and Guðni Albert Jóhannesson. He grew up in Reykjavík, Iceland, until he was fifteen years old, when his family moved back to Sweden.
Sverrir’s paternal grandfather was Jóhannes Guðnason (the son of Guðni Jón Þorleifsson and Albertína Jóhannesdóttir). Jóhannes was born in Suðureyrarmölum, Súgandafjörður. Sverrir’s grandfather Guðni was the son of Þorleifur Sigurðsson and Gunnjóna Einarsdóttir. Albertína was the daughter of Jóhannes Guðmundsson and Guðrún Jónsdóttir.
