Sam Richardson is an American actor, writer, producer, and comedian. His roles include the films Spy (2015), Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Ghostbusters (2016), Office Christmas Party, The House (2017), Game Over, Man!, Good Boys, Hooking Up, Promising Young Woman, Superintelligence, Werewolves Within, The Tomorrow War, Senior Year (2022), Hocus Pocus 2, Somebody I Used to Know, and, in voice performance, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken; and the shows The Office, Veep, The Second City Project, Detroiters, which he also co-created and wrote for; Champaign ILL, I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, Ted Lasso, The Afterparty, and, in voice role, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, BoJack Horseman, Hoops, Woke, The Fungies!, M.O.D.O.K., Q-Force, HouseBroken, Central Park, Mulligan, and Velma.

His father is American and his mother is Ghanaian. His aunt, Barbara-Rose Collins, was a Democratic Party politician, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan, from January 3, 1991 to January 3, 1997. He grew up in both Detroit and Ghana.

Sam’s paternal grandparents likely were Lamar Nathaniel Richardson and Lou Versa Jones.

Sam’s maternal grandfather was W. A. Wiafe. W. A. was a chief and local political leader.
