Paul Revere was an American silversmith, engraver, and industrialist. He was a Patriot in the American Revolution, known for being one of the seven men, the “midnight riders,” who alerted the Colonial militia about the imminent arrival of the British militia in April 1775, before the battles of Lexington and Concord. He was the subject of the poem “Paul Revere’s Ride,” 1860, by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Paul was the son of Deborah (Hitchbourn/Hitchborn) and Apollos Rivoire/Revere. His father was French, born in Riocaud, Gironde, Aquitaine, France. His mother was American, born in Boston, of English descent. Paul was married to Sarah Orne, until her death, and then to Rachel Walker, until her death. He had eight children with Sarah and eight children with Rachel.

Paul was said to be a direct ancestor of actress Anne Revere.

Paul’s paternal grandfather was Isaac Rivoire (the son of Jean Rivoire and Magdeleine Malapougne). Isaac was born in Riqcaud, France. Jean was the son of Jean Rivoire and Sarra Frassineau.

Paul’s paternal grandmother was named Serenne Lambert.

Paul’s maternal grandfather was named Thomas Hitchbourn/Hitchborn/Hichborn (the son of Thomas Hitchbourn/Hitchborn/Hichborn and Ruth). Paul’s grandfather Thomas was born in Massachusetts. Paul’s great-grandfather Thomas was born in Lincolnshire, England, the son of David Hitchbourn/Hitchborn/Hichborn and Catherine.
