Paul Keating is an Australian politician. He served as Prime Minister of Australia, from 20 December, 1991 to 11 March, 1996. He was also a Member of the Australian Parliament for Blaxland, from 25 October, 1969 to 23 April, 1996, Treasurer of Australia, from 11 March, 1983 to 3 June, 1991, and Leader of the Labor Party, from 19 December, 1991 to 19 March, 1996, among other duties.

Prime Minister Keating is the son of Minnie Therese (Chapman) and Matthew John Keating. He has four children with his former wife, Dutch-born flight attendant Annita van Iersel.

Prime Minister Keating’s paternal grandfather was William P. Keating (the son of Matthew Keating and Catherine O’Byrne).
