Nelly Furtado is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actress. She is known for her songs “I’m Like a Bird,” “Turn Off the Light,” “Powerless (Say What You Want),” “Promiscuous,” “Maneater,” “Say It Right,” and “All Good Things (Come to an End),” as well as her appearance on “Give It to Me” and collaboration on “Broken Strings.” She has released a Spanish-language album, and an album exploring her Portuguese heritage. She co-starred in the film Max Payne (2008).
Her parents are Portuguese, from Ponta Garça, Vila Franca do Campo, São Miguel Island, in the Azores archipelago. She holds Portuguese citizenship. Nelly was named after Soviet gymnast Nellie Kim.
Nelly has three children, including a daughter with her former partner Jasper Gahunia.
Nelly’s paternal grandfather was named Manuel Matos Furtado.
Nelly’s paternal grandmother was named Maria Paixão Costa.

she is fully white. SHE IS EUROPEAN (CAUCASIAN) BECAUSE SHE MIGHT BE TANNED A LITTLE DOESNT MEAN SHE IS NOT WHITE. Being “white” is a social identity. Overwhelmingly in Portugal, the people are fair skin but there are regions of the country that there has a noticeable evidence of Afro-Arab, African, Middle Eastern (Moor invasion) ancestry as well as a huge Portuguese Jewish pop. Portugal also had a huge part in the Atlantic slave trade as evidence of Angola and a few other African countries that speak the language. Nelly looks like a typical dark skinned Southern European. Very few humans don’t have some mixed heritage.

If you’re refering tgo the North Africans who were there over 500 years ago, well, they were caucasian people, and they didn’t mix much due to religious differences. Then they were pushed out altogether. There have been more celtic people living in Portugal for centuries before (and after) the Moors. With her very dark hair, light eyes and face shape, NF could be from anywhere in the west…Ireland has many people with that hair/eye colour combination

Wow, guess someone forgot to tell the scientists/geneticists then. They have EXACTLY the same dna types as the rest of Europe; Spain is particularly close to France, Ireland and Britain
Spanish and Portuguese are not British or Irish… Maybe the Northern part may have more Celtic admixture but they’re considered part of Mediterranean culture more so than Britain and Ireland.
