Matt Frewer is a Canadian-American actor and comedian. He is known for playing Max Headroom in the eponymous made-for-tv movie and series. His other roles include the films Honey, I Shrunk the Kids; Lawnmower Man 2: Beyond Cyberspace, Disney’s Hercules (1997), Dawn of the Dead (2004), Watchmen (2009), 50/50, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, and The BFG; the series Doctor Doctor, Psi Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal, Eureka, Orphan Black, Altered Carbon, The Order, The Magicians, Fear the Walking Dead, and, in voice performance, The Pink Panther, The Magic School Bus, Gargoyles, Dumb and Dumber, Toonsylvania, and Disney’s Hercules: The Animated Series; and the made-for-tv movie The Sign of Four (2001).

Matt was born in Washington, D.C., the son of Canadian parents, Gillian and Frederick Frewer. He was raised in Peterborough, Ontario; he has dual American citizenship, as he was born while his father, a Royal Canadian Navy officer, was stationed at the Embassy of Canada to the U.S. Matt is married to English actress Amanda Hillwood, with whom he has a daughter.

Matt’s paternal grandfather was George Delamark Frewer (the son of The Rev. George Ernest Frewer and Louisa Charlotte Charsley). Matt’s grandfather George was born in England. The Rev. George was the son of The Rev. George Frewer and Elizabeth Lydia Simmons. Louisa was the daughter of Frederick Charsley and Fanny Kenyon Charsley.

Matt’s paternal grandmother was Margery Columbine De La Fosse (the son of Frederick Montague De La Fosse and Mary Jane Graham Bell). Margery was born in Toronto, Ontario. Frederick was born in India, and had English, and distant French, ancestry. Mary was born in Scotland.

Matt’s maternal grandfather was Phillip Barry German (the son of William Manley German and Henrietta Aylmer MacDonell). Phillip was born in Welland, Ontario. William was born on Prince Edward Island, and was a Liberal Party political figure and barrister; who was a Member of the Canadian Parliament for Welland, from 1891 to 1892, again, from 1900 to 1917, and again, from 1921 to 1926. He was the son of George German, who had German and Dutch ancestry, and of Susan Ella Garrett, who was of Colonial American descent through her father. Matt’s great-grandmother Henrietta was born in Toronto.

Matt’s maternal grandmother was Dorothy Kathleen Schofield (the daughter of Charles Schofield and Ethel Harrison). Dorothy was born in England.
