Marcy Kaptur is an American politician. A member of the Democratic Party, she has served as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, since January 3, 1983. As of 2021, she is the longest-serving woman in the U.S. Congress. Previously, she was director of planning for the National Center for Urban Ethnic Affairs, from 1975 to 1977.

Marcy is the daughter Anastasia Delores (Rogowski), an automobile union organizer, and Stephen Jacob Kaptur, who operated a small family grocery. Her parents were born in Toledo, and all of her grandparents were Polish.

Marcy’s paternal grandfather was John Kaptur (the son of Józef Kaptur and Michalina Chudzińska).

Marcy’s paternal grandmother was named Josepha/Josephine.

Marcy’s maternal grandfather was named John August Rogowski.

Marcy’s maternal grandmother was named Teofilia Karolina Święcicki/Święcicka.
