Lee Remick was an American actress and singer. Her roles include Days of Wine and Roses, The Omen, A Face in the Crowd, Anatomy of a Murder, Wild River, No Way to Treat a Lady, The Detective, The Blue Knight, Jennie: Lady Randolph Churchill, and The Europeans.
She was the daughter of Margaret Gertrude (Waldo), an actress, and Frank Edwin Remick, a department store owner. Her paternal grandfather was of Irish descent, while much or most of the rest of her ancestry was English. Many of her ancestral lines had been in New England since the 1600s.
Lee was married to British producer William Rory “Kip” Gowans, until her death. She had two children with her former husband, producer Bill Colleran.
Lee’s paternal grandfather was Alfred Hugh Remick (the son of George William Remick and Mary B. Fayne/Fayen). Alfred was born in Somerville, Middlesex, Massachusetts, to Irish parents. George was the son of William Remick and Harriet Irving. Mary was the daughter of Hugh Fayne/Fayen and Ann Wilson.
Lee’s paternal grandmother was Alice Mary Cooper (the daughter of Charles Cooper and Caroline P. “Carrie” Emerson). Alice was born in Somerville, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Charles was the son of Charles Cooper and Mary. Caroline was the daughter of Hiram Emerson and Laura Pratt.
Lee’s maternal grandfather was Lewis Howell Waldo (the son of John Bruce Waldo and Helen Brett). Lewis was born in Johnsville, New York. John was the son of William Besley Waldo and Jane Anne Bruce. Helen was the daughter of James Brett and Helen Ann White.
Lee’s maternal grandmother was Eliza Gertrude Duffield (the daughter of John Duffield and Eliza Thompson). Lee’s grandmother Eliza was born in England.
