He is the son of Peggy and Jack Fugelsang. He is married to designer Charmien La Framenta, with whom he has a son.

John’s paternal grandfather was Leonard Fugelsang (the son of Lewis/Louis Fugelsang and Martha Nolan). Leonard was born in New York. Lewis was born in New York, to a Danish father and an Irish mother. Martha was the daughter of Irish parents, Patrick Nolan and Mary McMahon.

John’s paternal grandmother was Adele H. Corrigan (the daughter of George J. Corrigan and Harriet Osborn). Adele was born in New York. George was the son of Michael Corrigan and Margaret, both of whom were born in New York, to Irish parents. Harriet was born in New York.
