John Barrasso is an American physician and politician. A Republican, he has been a U.S. Senator from Wyoming, since June 22, 2007, and Chair of the Senate Republican Conference, since January 3, 2019. He was previously Chair of the Senate Republican Policy Committee, from January 26, 2012 to January 3, 2019, and Chair of the Senate Environment Committee, from January 3, 2017 to February 3, 2021, among other duties.

John is the son of Louise M. and John Anthony Barrasso, Jr., a cement finisher. His father was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and his mother was born in Union Bridge, Maryland, both of them to Italian parents. John was married to Bobbi Brown, until her death. He has three children with his former wife Linda Nix.

John’s paternal grandfather was named John Anthony Barrasso (born Giovanni Barrasso, the son of Antonio/Anthony Barrasso). John was from Carife, Avellino, Campania.
