James Scullin was an Australian politician. He served as Prime Minister of Australia, from 22 October, 1929 to 6 January, 1932. He was also Leader of the Labor Party, from 29 March, 1928 to 1 October, 1935, and Leader of the Opposition, from 29 March, 1928 to 22 October, 1929, and again from 6 January, 1932 to 1 October, 1935, among other duties.

Prime Minister Scullin was the son of Ann (Logan) and John Scullin, a railway labourer. His parents were Irish Catholic immigrants, from County Derry, Northern Ireland.

Prime Minister Scullin’s paternal grandparents were Patrick Scullin and Rose Mulholland.

Prime Minister Scullin’s maternal grandparents were Daniel Logan and Nancy MacIevar.
