Helena is the daughter of Ingrid Margareta and Per Olof Josefsson. She is married to Martin Gustav Nilsson, with whom she has two children.

Helena’s paternal line can be traced to her fifth great-grandfather, Per Jonsson (1723 – 1785, Åseda, Kronoberg).
