George Miller is an Australian director, writer, producer, filmmaker, and physician. He has directed the films Mad Max, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, a segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie; Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (which he co-directed); The Witches of Eastwick, Lorenzo’s Oil, Babe: Pig in the City, Happy Feet, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature; Happy Feet Two, Mad Max: Fury Road, Three Thousand Years of Longing, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He co-wrote all of his films, except for Twilight Zone and The Witches of Eastwick; and co-wrote the film Babe (1995). He also directed and wrote the documentary 40,000 Years of Dreaming, directed episodes of the mini-series The Dismissal, which he also wrote for, and The Last Bastion; and directed the music video for “We Don’t Need Another Hero.” He co-founded production companies Kennedy Miller, later Kennedy Miller Mitchell; and Dr. D Studios.
George is the son of Angela and Dimitrios Miliotis, later Jim Miller. His parents were Greek. His father was born on the island Kythira, at Mitata. His mother’s family were Greek refugees from Anatolia, displaced in the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1923. He has collaborated with his brothers Chris, and Bill Miller, a producer. George trained in medicine.
George is married to film editor Margaret Sixel. He has a daughter with his former wife, actress Sandy Gore; and two children with Margaret.
