Emilio Delgado was an American actor and singer. He was known for playing Luis Rodriguez on Sesame Street for 45 years.

Emilio was born in Calexico, the son of Carmen Rodriguez and Emilio Romero Delgado, who were also born in California, of Mexican descent. Emilio grew up in Mexicali, Mexico, until his family moved to Glendale, California, when he was a teenager. He was married to Carole Delgado, until his death. He had two children, including one with Carole.

Emilio’s paternal grandfather was Jose Emilio Talamantes Delgado (the son of Manuel L. Delgado and Paula Talamante). Jose was born in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. Manuel was the son of Jesus Delgado and Paula Losano. Emilio’s great-grandmother Paula was the daughter of Antonio Talamantes and Rosario Moreno.

Emilio’s paternal grandmother was Romualda Romero (the daughter of Antonio Romero and Maria Beltran). Romualda was born in Hedges, Imperial, California, to parents of Mexican descent.
