She is the daughter of actor Bengt Wilhelm Carlsson and actress Christina Denize Karabuda.

Effie’s older half-sister is singer and songwriter Robyn.

Effie’s paternal grandfather was Sven Adolf Carlsson (the son of Adolf Vilhelm Carlsson and Hilda Amalia Johansson). Sven was born in Borås, Västra Götaland.
