Eddie Guerrero was an American professional wrestler. A member of the Guerrero wrestling family, he performed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He was widely considered to have been one of the greatest and most influential professional wrestlers. His catchphrase was “I Lie! I Cheat! I Steal!” He was also known as Black Tiger (II), El Caliente, Eddy Guerrero, Gory Guerrero, Jr., Máscara Mágica, and Latino Heat.

Eddie was the son of Herlinda Micaela Yañez González and wrestler Gory Guerrero (born Salvador Guerrero Quesada), who was one of the premier Mexican-American professional wrestlers, in the early days of Lucha Libre. His father was born in Ray, Arizona, and was partly raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. His mother was born in Zacatlán Municipality, Puebla, Mexico. His uncle, mother’s brother, was professional wrestler Enrique Llanes (born Enrique Juan Yañez González); Enrique was born in Otumba, State of Mexico, Mexico, and was one of the best-known Hispanic professional wrestlers, also in early Lucha Libre. Among Eddie’s siblings were professional wrestlers Chavo Guerrero, Sr. (born Salvador Guerrero Llanes), Mando Guerrero (Armando Guerrero Llanes), and Héctor Guerrero (Héctor Manuel Guerrero Llanes), who is also a commentator.

Eddie was married to professional wrestling personality and manager Vickie Guerrero (born Vickie Lynn Lara), until his death. Vickie is also of Mexican descent. The couple had two children, professional wrestler, ring announcer, and burlesque performer Shaul Guerrero and wrestler Sherilyn Amber Guerrero. Shaul is married to color commentator and professional wrestler Matthew Rehwoldt. Eddie’s nephew is professional wrestler Chavo Guerrero, Jr.

Eddie was a born-again Christian.

Eddie’s maternal grandfather was named José Yañez López. José was a telegraphist aligned with the Mexican revolutionists.

Eddie’s maternal grandmother was named María González Moreno. María was said to have been a direct descendant of Pedro Moreno, an early 19th century insurgent.
