Duane Chapman is an American reality television star, bounty hunter, and a former bail bondsman. He is also known as Dog Chapman or Dog. He starred in the weekly reality television program Dog the Bounty Hunter.

Duane is the son of Barbara Darlene (Cowell), an Assemblies of God minister, and Wesley Duane Chapman. Duane has German, English, Danish, and distant Swiss-German, ancestry.

Duane has said that he has Native American heritage. No Native American ancestry appears in the genealogy of Duane Chapman. There is also a comic article that states that Duane has Polish and Ukrainian ancestry. This article was intended as a joke, and is not factually accurate.

Duane was married to Alice Elizabeth “Beth” Barmore, until her death. He has twelve children, including two with his former wife La Fonda; three with his former wife Ann; three with his former wife Lyssa Rael; and three with Beth.
