I’m 1/2 Irish, 1/8 Icelandic, 1/4 Scottish (Shetland Islands) and 1/8 Faroe Islander. I have darkest brown hair (nearly black), green eyes and skin like CZJs. My grandmother (fully Irish) had black hair and dark brown eyes. You need to take a trip to NW Europe…you might be surprised!

I’m European and can say that there are plenty of people in Ireland and Wales that have CZJ’s colouring. Whoever said that less than half of one percent of Irish people have brown eyes is tripping! Personally, I’m 1/8 Faroe Islander, 1/4 Scottish (Shetland Islands), 1/8 Icelandic and 1/2 Irish. So I’m a NW European mix of a few islands! I have darkest brown hair, green eyes and fair skin. One Grandmother had black hair and dark, dark brown eyes, one Grandmother had black hair and navy blue eyes, one Grandfather had blond hair and blue eyes and the other had medium brown hair and the same piercing blue eye colour as Killian Murphy (mine are that light but green instead of blue). Anyway what I am trying to say is that none of those hair / eye combinations is unusual in W or NW Europe. CZJ is not rare or unusual in terms of her colouring. Check out the Welsh or Irish rugby teams sometime and you will see a whole range of different but not unusual colourings.
Despite what perceptions people have the people of the British Isles don’t have a set look. I think the quote about brown eyes was from Carlton Coon who was an American physical antropologist and the study was based on previous studies undertaken by a US university with the permission of the Irish government in the 1940s. This is the quote. “Studies have indicated the Irish are “almost uniquely pale skinned when unexposed, untanned parts of the body, are observed” and “40% of the entire group are freckled to some extent.” Moreover, “in the proportion of pure light eyes”, data shows that “Ireland competes successfully with the blondest regions of Scandinavia”, as approximately 42% of the Irish population have pure blue eyes. Another 30% have been found to possess light-mixed eyes and “less than 1 half of 1% have pure brown”.
The above is quoting a study done and is statistics from that study.
C. Wesley Dupertuis conducted a survey of Irish people in the 1940s under the guidance of the Department of Anthropology of Harvard University, and gathered data on hair and eye colour statistics in Ireland.
I personally think from my observations that Irish people would have a higher percentage of people with brown eyes than is quoted in the above study but on a whole the Irish are a light eyed population.
Surely people understand that “WHITE” “BLACK” “BROWN” etc don’t literally mean that everyone who is Irish for example can only be white or everyone African American only Black. It’s a general grouping for massive amounts of people. People can tan, overtime their skin can darken, or people can lighten from not being out in the sun. It’s just a general grouping. There are Italians darker than some Arabs or even Black people (that rapper Ice T?) but that doesn’t mean they aren’t European or Middle Eastern or Black etc.
Come on people, it’s not that hard to understand these are general groupings. People are too mixed over thousands and thousands of years to not have a bit of variation and overlap. north Korean people are whiter than most “white european” people but that doesn’t make them European-Caucasian does it?
