Wow!!! I used that DNA kit on ancestry.com and my results just came in!…. my family is from…. Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroon, Congo, Italy, Ireland, England, Part European Jewish, Scandinavia, Polynesia, Iraq, Iran and Kuwait. Damn I knew I was mixed but this is Awesome!
Cape Verde is a group of islands located off the coast of West Africa. Most of the population (about 71%) of Cape Verde is a mix of Sub-Saharan African and European ancestry, usually from Portugal and Spain. Another celebrity of Cape Verde descent was Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes.
Amber’s paternal grandfather possibly was Francis/Frank Joseph Levonchuck (the son of Philip K. Leonchuk/Levonchuck and Pauline Tarnowski). Francis was born in Pennsylvania, to Polish parents.
Amber’s paternal grandmother possibly was Rose Spera (the daughter of Enrico Romeo/Roma Spera/Sperie and Rose Montone). Rose was born in Pennsylvania. Enrico was the son of Italian parents, John Spera/Sperie and Elizabeth. Rose was also the daughter of Italian parents, Joseph Montone/Montani and Susana Passwell/Pasquale/Dipasquale.
Amber’s maternal grandfather was Anthony J. “Sonny” Rose (who likely was the son of Theodore “Teddy” Rose and Lillian Santos). Anthony was born in Pennsylvania, to parents who were born on Brava, Cape Verde, and were black Cape Verdeans. Theodore was the son of Jose Rose and Josephine. Lillian was the daughter of Manuel Santos and Annie.

Her mother like most cape verdeans is half white, not 100% black
Why are people debating whether she is black or not? Who cares what she is genetically, obviously all she cares to be is black. She only dates black men, is always on these black blogs and has constant features in black men magazines. She talks black and acts black. Not being racist just being real. She wants to be black, and will likely have black children. That is the culture she identifies with, so be it.
True. She is black anyway. But also other things. Being not 100% African doesn’t make someone ”not black” just as being part black doesn’t stop someone being Irish or ”white” etc. It just means they are all these things. Jim Crowe laws were stupid and racist.
She should really identify as all of her ethnic groups though. Again because I do not like the Jim Crowe view of ethnicity.
@TheTruth
What exactly is “talking and acting Black”? Do you realize what you’ve even written? smdh…..
Wrong. She said in VIBE that she is a WHITE GIRL! She talks like a WHITE GIRL and acts like a WHITE GIRL!
Again, Amber stated she was a WHITE girl.
When she said white she was referring to her complexion not her race. I would know. I went to school with her.
She never had any white friends and would often mock their accents.
She prefers the black race.
I hate how people always bash biracial children with white fathers and black mothers. Please were darker then any other biracial and she’s not a quadroon. Her mother is a black Cape Verdean and her father is Italian and Irish. But Paula Pattons lighter then Amber so why isn’t anyone calling her a quadroon!
This is what white Americans would look like if they reversed roles with black Americans. Most black Americans are close to a quarter European, give or take a few, so if white Americans were close to a quarter black African, this would be how white Americans would look.
Mulatto+white does not equal black. She is around (give or take a few) 3/4 white and 1/4 black. In other words, she’s a quadroon. Well give or take a few. Pretty much, she is mostly white with a little black thrown in.
She is not a quadroon. Her father is white and her motber is black Cape Verdean. I am really not sure why she is being called a quadroon. Paula Patton is lighter then her. I am a biracial (black mom, white dad) and based on people I know biracials like me and Amber and Keyshia Cole amd Faith evans tend to be darker.
@Gutierrez You are correct. Her mother is Cape Verdean. African Americans think that being 400 miles off the coast of Senegal makes CV’s African, where the reality is cv’s are a mix of Portuguese and African. Amber’s mother is probably around 50% Portuguese, making Amber about 25% Subsaharan African and 75% European.
