Delta Burke is an American actress, producer, and author. She is known for her roles on the shows Filthy Rich, Designing Women, Delta, Women of the House, DAG, and Boston Legal, and in the film What Women Want; as well as in stage musicals. She was Miss Florida 1974.

Delta is the daughter of Ruby Jean Burton, a single mother. She was adopted by her stepfather, realtor Frederick Carlisle Burke. Frederick was from a Russian Jewish family; his own father had been born in Riga, Latvia, and the surname was likely anglicized to “Burke.” Delta is married to actor Gerald McRaney.

Delta’s maternal grandfather was John Lane Burton (the son of James Henry Burton and Frances Roxanna/Roxana Jones). John was born in Goodwater, Alabama, to parents who were born in the state.

Delta’s maternal grandmother was Ruby Male Hale (the daughter of Houston Columbus Hale and Palestine Delilah Parker). Ruby was born in New Albany, Mississippi, to parents who were also born in the state. Palestine was the daughter of Robert E. Lee Parker and Susan Gaines.
