Fred Rogers, also known as Mr. Rogers or Mister Rogers, was an American television personality, musician, puppeteer, writer, and producer. He was a Presbyterian minister. He was the host of the show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood from 1968 to 2001.

Fred was the son of Nancy (McFeely) and James Hillis Rogers. He was married to Joanne Byrd, until his death. The couple has two children. Joanne worked on his show.

Fred’s paternal grandfather was James N. Rogers (the son of John Rogers and Harriet Lloyd). Fred’s grandfather James was born in Pennsylvania, to a Welsh-born father and an English-born mother. John was the son of Edward Rogers and Ellinor Williams.

Fred’s paternal grandmother was Maude Jennie Nicewonger (the daughter of Jacob Traugher Nicewonger and Mary Elizabeth Smith). Maude was born in Greensburg, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. Jacob was the son of Joseph Nicewonger and Margaret Hull. Mary Elizabeth was the daughter of William Smith and Sarah Traugher.

Fred’s maternal grandfather was Frederick Brooks McFeely (the son of Charles Albert McFeely and Anna Lindsay). Fred’s grandfather Frederick was born in Steubenville, Jefferson, Ohio, and was an entrepreneur. Charles was the son of John McFeely and Clarissa Brooks. Anna was the daughter of John Lindsay and Susan Fish.

Fred’s maternal grandmother was Nancy/Annie/Nan/Nannie Morgan Kennedy (the daughter of William James Algeo Kennedy and Martha/Mattie A. Morgan). Nancy was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania. William was the son of John S. Kennedy, whose parents were Irish, and of Sarah Jane Cooper. Martha was the daughter of Francis Keevil, who was English, and of Sarah Ann Morgan, whose parents, Abraham Morgan and Ann Davis, were Welsh.
