He is the son of Kristen Campion and Doc Rivers (born Glenn Anton Rivers), who was also an NBA player. His great-uncle, Jim Brewer (James Turner Brewer), played in the NBA as well. His father is African-American and his mother is caucasian. They are pictured here.

Austin is one of four siblings, all of whom have been successful athletes in college. His brother, Jeremiah Rivers, is also a professional basketball player. His sister Callie is married to professional basketball player Seth Curry.
