Hope Solo is an American professional soccer player. A goalkeeper, she played for the Philadelphia Charge, Kopparbergs/Göteborg, Lyon, the Saint Louis Athletica, the Atlanta Beat, the magicJack, the Seattle Sounders Women, and the Seattle Reign. She was the goalkeeper for the U.S. women’s national soccer team from 2000 to 2016, including for its victory at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and as part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. She is also known as Hope Amelia Stevens.
Hope is the daughter of Judy and Jeffrey Solo, a Vietnam War veteran. The name Solo means “only” or “alone” in Italian. Hope is married to professional football player Jerramy Stevens, with whom she has two children.

Hope’s maternal grandfather was Pressley Franklin “Pete” Shaw (the son of Lester Wilson Shaw and Beulah Madge Pool). Pressley was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was of English and German descent. Lester was the son of Pressley Wilson Shaw and Ada Fidelpha/Phildelphia Kimberlin. Beulah was the daughter of Charles Franklin Pool and Essie May Rawlinson.
Hope’s maternal grandmother was Alice Mae Miernicki (the daughter of Henry Miernicki and Amelia Montero). Alice was born in San Diego, California. Henry was Polish, the son of Jacob Miernicki and Helen Czahowrowski. Amelia was born in France, the daughter of Deogracias Montero, who was Spanish, and of Julia Dubois, who was French.

Her father, Jeffrey John Solo, was born 1938 in New York, so we should be able to find him on a census. I’ve tried to search for Jeffrey, Jeff, Gerry, John, and Johnny, but haven’t found any record that is definitely of Hope’s father.
I’ve put up Solo’s paternal grandparents’ names. Perhaps there was a last name change of some kind.
