Carlos Arruza was a Mexican bullfighter.

His parents, José Ruiz Arruza and María Cristina Camino Galicia, were Spanish emigrants, from Madrid and Sequeros, Salamanca, respectively. His stage name derived from his paternal grandmother’s family name. He was married to Spanish immigrant María del Vázquez Alcaide.

Carlos’ stepson is actor Eduardo Capetillo. Carlos’ maternal uncle was Spanish poet León Felipe.

Carlos’ paternal grandfather was José Ruiz y Ruiz (the son of Cristóbal Ruiz and María Ruiz). José was born in Santa Fe de Mondújar, Almería, Andalucía, Spain.

Carlos’ paternal grandmother was Manuela de Arruza y Cabanzo (the daughter of Gregorio de Arruza de la Vega and Tomasa de Cabanzo Rodríguez). Manuela was born in Noja, Cantabria, Cantabria, Spain. Gregorio was the son of Juan de Arruza Setién and María Teresa de la Vega y Valle. Tomasa was the daughter of Juan Francisco de Cabanzo and Florencia Rodríguez.

Carlos’ maternal grandfather was Higinio Camino de la Rosa (the son of Mariano Camino del Rey and Vicenta de la Rosa Pérez). Higinio was born in Herrín de Campos, Valladolid, Castilla y León, Spain. Mariano was the son of Juan Camino Madrigal and María Cruz del Rey Pascual. Vicenta was the daughter of Elias de la Rosa de la Rosa and Juana Pelaya Pérez Sevilla.

Carlos’ maternal grandmother was Valeriana Alicia Ayala (the daughter of Julián Galicia Fresco and Salustiana Ayala Gregorio). Valeriana was born in Estella, Navarre, Navarre, Spain. Julián was the son of Pedro Galicia Sánchez and Juana Antonia María de la Soledad Fresco Martínez. Salustiana was the daughter of Vicente Ayala del Barco and Venancia Gregorio Gil.

Carlos’ matrilineal ancestry can be traced back to his 11th great-grandmother, Ana de Medina.
