True O’Brien is an American model and actress. She has starred on the soap opera Days of Our Lives, and appeared on the show Queen Sugar and in the music video for “One Time.”
She is the daughter of Elizbaeth and John O’Brien, a graphic designer. True is a first cousin of actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld.
True’s great-uncle, the brother of her maternal grandfather, is child actor Larry Domasin. Larry is pictured here and here.
True’s patrilineal ancestry can be traced to her fourth great-grandfather, Patrick H. O’Brien (March 17, 1791, County Cavan, Ireland – August 1851, Jackson Township, Dearborn County, Indiana).
True’s paternal grandfather was Ralph Rockwell O’Brien (the son of Cornelius E. O’Brien and Eva L. Rockwell). Ralph was born in Colorado. Cornelius was the son of Addison McClelland O’Brien, who was of Cornish, Dutch, English, and Irish descent, and of Eleonora Margaret “Nora” Gehin, who was of French descent. True’s great-grandmother Eva was of English and Scottish descent, and likely was the daughter of Leroy Elwood Rockwell, and of an unknown mother from New York.
True’s paternal grandmother is Lucille Resel (the daughter of Konrad Resel and Jennie/Johanna Praschnikar). Lucille was born in Colorado. Konrad was from Lankowitz, Austria. Jennie was born in Loben, Carinthia, Austria, and had Slovenian ancestry.
True’s maternal grandfather, Ricardo/Simonas Guillermo Domasin, was born in 1938 in Los Angeles. Ricardo’s father, Pastor “Peter” Loresca Domasin, was born, in 1902, in Panglao, Bohol, in the Philippines. Pastor was the son of GerĂ³nimo Domasin y Lorejo, or GerĂ³nimo Lorejo Domasin in Filipino, and of Cirila Loresca y Domaluan, or Cirila Domaluan Loresca in Filipino. A picture of Pastor can be seen here.
Ricardo’s mother, Evelyn Olivia Bain, was born in 1910 in Los Angeles; Evelyn was True’s great-grandmother. Evelyn was African-American, and she and her parents, Thomas Edward Bain (born in Kansas, to Gabrel Bain and Isabella/Belle Johnson) and Wilma Frances “Willie” Peterson (born in Arkansas, to William F. Peterson and Nannie Hall), are listed as either African-American or, sometimes, as “Mulatto,” in census records. A picture of Evelyn can be seen here.
True’s maternal grandmother was Laurita Lee Hinkle (the daughter of William Hicks Hinkle and Edith Laurita Jones). Laurita was born in Texas, and had English, German, Scots-Irish/Northern Irish, and Scottish, ancestry. William was the son of Joshua Madison Hinkle and Ella Malona Payne. Edith was the daughter of Charles Kirby Jones and Ethel Effie Smith.
True’s matrilineal ancestry can be traced back to her fourth great-grandmother, Penelope “Phenina” Watson.

Konrad was from Lankowitz, Austria (ikely Maria Lankowitz in Styria). His wife was also likely from Austria (and not Germany), since her last name is Slovenian.
There are three clues that point out to this being True’s grandmother:
1)On her grandfather’s memorial site there’s a picture of him with a Resel family
2) Frank Resel’s obituary says his surviving sister is Lucille O’Brien
3)They’re all from La Junta, Colorado
According to her uncle’s obituary, Lucille Resel is her grandmother.

There’s some miscommunication going on here. Her great-grandfather was Austrian. Her great-grandmother was likely Slovenian from Austria. Her mother Fanny Prasnikar, and her step-father Josef Zabret, had Slovenian last names. Johanna was born in Loben, Carinthia, Austria. They’re listed right under Resel family on the 1930 census, and their language is listed as Slav, while Resels are listed as German speaking.
So her great-grandfather had no Slovenian ancestry through the surname Resel either? He was only, or mostly, Austrian? And her great-grandmother was of only Slovenian descent?
Yes, her great-grandfather was Austrian. Johanna’s biological father is unknown, but both her mother and step-father were Slovenian.
Her father, John O’Brien, is a graphic designer.
His middle name is Richard.
True’s mother is Elizabeth Marie (Domasin).
Elizabeth’s nickname is “Liz”.
Did not know she was related to Hailee Steinfeld.
