Gareth Thomas is a Welsh professional rugby player and television personality. A wing, centre, and second-row in rugby league, he played for Crusaders RL, and the Wales national team. A fullback, wing, and centre in rugby union, he played for Bridgend, Cardiff RFC, Celtic Warriors, Toulouse, and Cardiff Blues, and for Wales Youth, the Wales national team, and British & Irish Lions. He also played for national sevens with the Wales national team. He is the first Welsh rugby union player to have 100 test match appearances. He is nicknamed “Alfie.” He is 6′3″.

Gareth is the son of Yvonne and Barry Thomas. He is the first openly gay professional rugby union player.
