Konstantin Chernenko was a Soviet politician. He led the USSR, as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, from 13 February, 1984 to 10 March, 1985, his death. He was also Second Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, from 25 January, 1982 to 24 May, 1982, and again, from 10 November, 1982 to 9 February, 1984; and Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union, from 11 April, 1984 to 10 March, 1985.
He was the son of Kharitina Dmitrievna and Ustin Demidovich Chernenko. He was married to Anna Chernenko (born Anna Dmitrievna Lyubimova), until his death. He had a son, philosopher Albert Chernenko, with his former wife, Faina Vassilyevna Chernenko; and three children with Anna.
Konstantin’s paternal grandfather was named Demid Alekseevich Chernenko (the son of Alexey Moiseevich Chernenkov/Chernenko and Akulina Savelyevna). Alexey was the son of Moses Chernenkov.
Konstantin’s paternal grandmother was named Hebroniya/Fevronia/Fevronya Romanovna Plotnikova (the daughter of Roman Alekseevich Plotnikov and Tatyana Fokina). Roman was the son of Alexey Ilyich Plotnikov and Agafya Vasilievna.
