He was the son of Elizabeth “Bette” and Harry Edward Nilsson. He was married to Una O’Keeffe, until his death. He had a son with his former wife Diane Clatworthy; and six children with Una.
Harry’s paternal grandfather was Charles Harry Nilsson (the son of Carl Emmanuel Nilsson and Augusta Wilhelmine “Adele” Rolle). Charles was born in Manhattan, New York, to a Swedish father and a German mother. Carl created the act, “aerial ballet.”
