Lon Chaney, Jr. was an American actor.

He was the son of Frances/Francis Cleveland (Creighton), a singer and stage performer, and actor, director, and screenwriter Lon Chaney. He was married to Patsy Beck, until his death. He had two children with his former wife Dorothy Hinckley.

Lon’s paternal grandfather was Frank H. Chaney (the son of James H. Chaney and Caroline Uffner). Frank was born in Ohio. James was the son of John Chaney. John was a Democratic politician, who was a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, from March 4, 1833 to March 3, 1839; he was the son of Nathan Cheney and Susanna.

Lon’s paternal grandmother was Emma Alice Kennedy (the daughter of Jonathan Ralston/Ralstin Kennedy and Mary E. Jones). Lon’s grandmother Emma was born in Kansas. Jonathan founded the Colorado School for the Education of Mutes, later renamed the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind. He was the son of William Hugh Kennedy and Margaret Jane Ralston.

Lon’s maternal grandfather was named John Evans Creighton. John was born in Ohio.

Lon’s maternal grandmother was Martha Jane “Mattie” Johnson (the daughter of James Johnson and Margaret “Peggy” Cox). Martha was born in Tennessee. James was the son of John Johnston/Johnson and Catherine “Caty” McKeehan.
