Alex Kingston is a British actress. Alex is the daughter of Margaretha (Renneisen), who is German, and Anthony Kingston, an English butcher. Her uncle is actor Walter Renneisen.
Alex is married to television producer Jonathan Stamp. She has a daughter with her former husband, German writer and journalist Florian Haertel.
Alex’s paternal grandfather was Charles William Kingston (the son of Edward Kingston and Winifred May/Mary Sawyer). Edward was the son of Charles Kingston and Helen/Ellen Bosworth. Winifred was the daughter of Isaac Sawyer and Harriet Hook.
Alex’s paternal grandmother was Helen Jeanett Keevil (the daughter of William Henry Keevil, a soldier, and of Helen Edith Fleming). William was the son of Walter Keevil and Helen/Ellen Law. Alex’s great-grandmother Helen was the daughter of Robert Woodman Fleming and Helen/Ellen Sophia Morey.
Alex’s great-great-grandmother Helen Morey was the daughter of Alfred James Morey and Sophia Braham. Alex’s great-great-great-grandmother Sophia was the daughter of Michael Braham and Elizabeth Harriott/Harriet Aldred.
On an episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, 2012, Alex traced her ancestry back to the Braham family, a surname said to be derived from the surname Abraham. Alex’s great-great-great-grandfather Michael Braham is said to be Jewish. Alex’s great-great-great-grandmother Elizabeth Harriott Aldred was the daughter of John Aldred and Harrott/Harriott Powell, and does not appear to have been of Jewish ancestry, although she may have converted to Judaism.

Always thought she was part middle eastern or black.
Was Michael Braham really Jewish? The series seemed to be assuming that the Braham family was Jewish because Sophia Braham’s sister, Eve, married into an Orthodox Jewish family. However, Eve could have converted to Judaism. Sophia’s mother, the “brothel owner” mentioned by the show, Elizabeth Harriott Aldred, almost certainly wasn’t born Jewish, although she may have converted to Judaism.
I have a question, but I didn’t watch the episode. You’re saying that this line – “The Braham family were members of Duke’s Place Synagogue, built near Aldgate in the late 17th century.” is based on assumption rather than record?
I didn’t watch the whole episode. I think the Jewish parts are mentioned around and after the 30 minute mark.
They seem to present the fact that Sophia Braham’s sister, Eve, was married to a Jewish man, by a rabbi, in Duke’s Place Synagogue, as “proof” that the Braham family itself was Jewish. I’m not sure if they have any other evidence. I think the Duke’s Place reference you mention refers to that.
You could of course watch the whole episode and tell me if there’s more…
As for your other question, I try not to link now-divorced couples who didn’t have any children, because it can get excessive, but people just keep submitting those in (I know even some couples who were never married and never had children are linked on some pages).
