Tom Scholz is an American rock musician, inventor, engineer, and philanthropist. He is the founder, main songwriter, primary guitarist, and keyboardist of rock band Boston. He is its only original remaining member. Brad Delp was also a member of the band.
He is the son of Olive and Don Scholz. Tom is married to Kim Hart. He has a son with his former wife Cynthia Hartford.
Tom’s paternal grandfather was Alexander Louis Scholz (the son of Paul B. Scholz and Ida E. Klein).
Tom’s paternal grandmother was Ethel Leara McKay (the daughter of Samuel W. McKay and Mary O’Leary). Paul was Hungarian. Ida’s father was German.
