Mel Ott was an American professional baseball player. He was a Major League Baseball (MLB) right fielder for the New York Giants, from 1926 through 1947. Mel was inducted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1951. He was nicknamed “Master Melvin.”

Mel was the son of Caroline and Charles Lawrence Ott.

Mel’s paternal grandfather was Charles Gottlieb/Gotlieb Ott (the son of Johann Michael Ott and Christina Fretz). Charles was German.

Mel’s paternal grandmother was Catherine Wittenbrink/Whittenbrinke (the daughter of Moritz Wittenbrink and Annie Voget). Catherine was German.

Mel’s maternal grandfather was Frederick William Miller (the son of Charles Miller and Catherine Leber). Frederick was born in Louisiana.

Mel’s maternal grandmother was Margaret Drinkhaus (the daughter of Adam Drinkhaus and Elizabeth Crackel/Vrackle). Margaret was born in Louisiana.
