Léon Marchand is a French swimmer. He won four Gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics, in men’s 200m breakstroke, 200m butterfly, 200m medley, and 400m medley. He is a member of the Arizona State University swim team.

Léon was born in Toulouse, to Céline Bonnet and Xavier Marchand, who were professional swimmers, and themselves competed in the Olympics, his father in 1996 and his mother in 1992. His uncle, father’s brother, is swimmer Christophe Marchand, who competed in the 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympics. His father is from Deauville, Lower Normandy.

He is descended from Donatien Maillard, who was born in Cordemais, Loire-Atlantique, and from his wife, Fridoline Deschler, who was of German heritage.

Léon also has roots in Charente-Maritime, Brittany, and Burgundy.
