He is the co-founder and former executive chairman of Alibaba Group, a multinational technology conglomerate, and the co-founder of Yunfeng Capital, a Chinese private equity firm. He is one of the wealthiest people in China.

He is the son of Cui Wencai and Ma Laifa. Jack is married to Zhang Ying (also known as Cathy Zhang), with whom he has three children.
