Froy Gutierrez is an American model, actor, and musician. He has appeared in the films A Cowgirl’s Story, Initation, Hocus Pocus 2, and The Strangers: Chapter 1, and on the series Bella and the Bulldogs, One Day at a Time, Teen Wolf, Light as a Feather, Wireless, and Cruel Summer.

His father, Froylan, is from Mexico. His mother, Heather J. Lee, is a reporter and documentary filmmaker from Stonington, Maine.

He has deep ancestral roots in Mexico and is proud of his native heritage. He has said:

I am very passionate and vocal about issues facing people of color, so I find it odd that I am often referred to as a white boy. I totally acknowledge the privilege that comes from being “white passing,” but it bothers me when my Caxcan-native and Mexican roots are erased. When people refer to mixed people as white, they are feeding into the same systems of oppression that erase the stories of POC. There’s a lot of pressure to either tokenize or whitewash myself, and I hope I do not do either of those.

Froy’s maternal grandfather is Thomas “Tom” Jenson (the son of Paul Gerhard Jenson and Elizabeth Ann Dybdal). Paul was born in Minnesota, the son of Canute Thorvald Jenson and of Emma Mathilda Rohne, both of whom were the children of Norwegian parents. Elizabeth was born in Minnesota, the daughter of Tenny Benjamin Dybdal, whose parents were Norwegian, and of Hedwig A. “Hattie” Leuzinger/Leitzinger, whose father was from Switzerland and whose mother was of German descent.

Froy’s maternal grandmother is Susan E. “Sue” Wyard/Wiard (the daughter of Robert Campbell Wyard/Wiard and Helen Kardos/Cardis). Susan was born in Connecticut. Robert was born in Massachusetts, the son of John Buckley Wyard/Wiard and Alice Campbell Barden. Helen was born in Connecticut, to parents from Hungary, James Kardos/Cardis and Elizabeth Shea, who were listed as Hungarian-speakers on the 1930 U.S. Census.

  1. AutisticApe says:

You inherit 50% of your DNA from your mother.

    Three eights = 37.5%
    One quarter = 25%

Even with those two ethnicities alone that is over the amount of DNA possible to inherit from your mother. Either I’m stupid or the math isn’t adding up.
