Wanderlei Silva is a Brazilian mixed martial artist. He competed in Japan’s Pride Fighting Championships and the American-based Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has become a U.S. citizen. He is also known as The Axe Murderer.

Wanderlei is the son of Leopoldina Hoscher and Holando Pinheiro da Silva. His father’s surnames are of Portuguese origin. His mother’s surname is of German origin. He has two children.
