Gerald McRaney is an American television and film actor.

He is the son of Edna Lenora and Clyde Charles McRaney. He is of Scottish and English descent, with roots in Mississippi for several generations. Gerald is also said to have some Choctaw Native American ancestry. It is not clear if this Native American ancestry has been verified/documented.

Gerald is married to actress, producer, and author Delta Burke. He has two children with his former wife Beverly Root; and one child with his former wife Pat Moran.

Gerald’s paternal grandfather was Charles/Charlie Lee McRaney/McRainey (the son of Malcolm C. “Mack” McRaney/McRannie and Fannie/Frances Bell Harvey). Charlie was born in Mississippi. Malcolm was the son of Daniel McCraney and Harriett Campbell.
