Fionn Whitehead is an English actor. He has had leading roles in the films Dunkirk, The Children Act, Roads (2019), Port Authority, The Duke (2020), Don’t Tell a Soul, Voyagers, and Emily (2022), on television’s Him (2016), Queers, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and Great Expectations (2023), and in the music video “Rapture.”
He is the son of Linda (Jones) and Tim Whitehead, a jazz musician.
He was named after Irish folk legend Fionn mac Cumhaill, a mythical hunter-warrior. The stories of Fionn and his followers form the Fenian Cycle (an Fhiannaíocht). The name is pronounced Fin.
It is not clear if Fionn himself has Irish heritage.
Fionn’s paternal grandfather was one of the writers of Dennis the Menace in the children’s comic The Beano.
He has no Irish ancestry.
maybe northern irish(basically scottish), he is too young to be sure that all his documented heritage(genetic heritage is a whole other thing) is all english, since english, scottish, and irish people have been mixing with each other for centuries, especially in those northern english cities that had massive waves of irish and scottish immigrants

He has an Irish first name, he was born in Liverpool, and arguably there are Irish peoplhat look like that, so who knows.
His parents’ full names are Timothy G. Whitehead and Linda M. Jones. His father was born in Liverpool.
His paternal grandmother’s surname is Hall.
Paternal grandparents are possibly Harold Whitehead and Esther Hall
He was great in Dunkirk, too bad he never did much after that. Very unlikely that he is full english, most modern day white english people have some degree of other british isles “ethnicities” in their recent and relatively recent background. Really very feel people born in England over the past 200, 300 years are REALLY english. The safe bet os that he also have some scottish, irish, and maybe more distant welsh descent.
*the safe bet is
That is just your assumption based on looking at celebrity ancestries. Most English celebrities come from urban/cosmopolitan backgrounds, so are more likely to be mixed than the average. There are plenty of rural English with only English in their recent ancestry.
Although re: Whitehead, coming from Liverpool is certainly a good bet of having recent Irish/Scottish/Welsh ancestry.
Mother’s last name is Jones. Isn’t that usually a Welsh last name?
